Front-Line Covid-19 Nurse Is National Staffing Employee of the Year

Assured Healthcare Staffing is celebrating National Staffing Week September 13-19, 2021 by honoring our employee, Linda Cardenas, who is the 2021 recipient of the ASA National Staffing Employee of the Year Award and the Health Care Sector All-Star. National Staffing Employee Week celebrates the contributions of the millions of individuals employed by U.S. staffing agencies each week.

The American Staffing Association announced Sept. 14, 2020 that Linda Cardenas is the 2021 National Staffing Employee of the Year.

Cardenas began working with Assured Healthcare Staffing in 2016 as a contract substitute school nurse with the Round Lake Beach, IL, school district. She established a great rapport with the students and teachers at all of the schools she was assigned―particularly with one school, Ellis Elementary and, in August 2017, Cardenas bridged to a permanent role as a school nurse there. When her school district shuttered this spring due to the pandemic, Cardenas rapidly pivoted professionally to serve as contract nurse at long-term care nursing facilities in her geographic area (on assignments through her staffing company) where multiple cases of Covid-19 were known to be present. Despite the type of work and environment differing drastically from school nursing and putting herself in a potentially dangerous situation health-wise, Cardenas stepped up and has been filling as many shifts as she can including overtime, if necessary. A staffing hero, Cardenas is providing crucial health care support to nursing home residents amid this very challenging time.
