Metabolism Boosting Diet Tips
Metabolism is the chemical process by which our bodies extract energy by food. In a large amount of people, metabolism is slower than usual can be due to a number of factors including lack of activity, sleep, poor diet, aging and stress. While we can't avoid aging, we can control the rest. Today are some tips on metabolism-boost foods:
Protein-Rich Foods such as meat, fish, eggs, legumes, nuts and seeds can boost metabolism for a few hours as it takes more energy to process them.
Iron, Zinc and Selenium-Rich Foods such as meat, seafood, legumes, nuts and seeds will support your thyroid which is essential to metabolic function.
Tea, especially oolong and green tea, can boost your metabolism by 4-10% (can help you burn up to 100 calories extra a day!).
Legumes (lentils, peas, chickpeas, beans and peanuts) are particularly high in both protein and fiber which makes your metabolic system work hard.
Coffee as caffeine can boost metabolism. Note - balance is important here so it does not add to stress which can slow down metabolism. Stay away from sugary foods and drinks.
Switch up your diet frequently! Keto diet, Plant diet, High Carb/Low Fat diet, Low Fat/High Carb diet. Why are these fad diets claim to be the ultimate way to lose weight? It's because they are generally strange diets for our body to process, something different than it normally eats. But, over time, by adhering to just one of these diets, the body adapts and starts storing fat again. To lose weight, switch between these diets frequently (weekly).
