eAngel Community
What was the catalyst for founding eAngel Community?
eAngel evolved through a committed desire to help people who are less fortunate. It is an answer to a calling shared by many throughout the faith based community; a calling to fulfill the wish list needs and other requirements of nonprofit organizations within the Chicago area. eAngel is a direct response to the private sector request for assistance in the process of giving in-kind donations.
How are you able to do the good work that you do?
eAngel Community is a 501c3 nonprofit committed to helping people donate non cash resources to disadvantaged low-income individuals and families in underserved Chicago area communities.
Based on a partnership with our nonprofit members we not only provide for vital wish list needs, but also an enduring network of philanthropic relationships with eAngel member donors.
This is done through our free online process of matching in-kind donations with the needs of Chicago area nonprofits.
How are you able to help not-for-profit organizations?
Over the past 20 years we have provided over 125 eAngel nonprofit members with thousands of gift items including, furniture, appliances, office equipment, tools, musical instruments, and vehicles; serving families and youth at risk, the jobless, the handicapped, students in need, the homeless, veterans, the mentally ill, care giving services and community schools.
eAngel has received a vast amount of donations from home owners in transition; including washer/dryers, furnaces, hot water heaters, flooring, plumbing, ovens and refrigerators.
Examples of larger past donations include desks, chairs, workstations, computers, artwork, sofas, fixtures, and cabinetry etc. from the Chicago American Medical Association and other corporate offices to vocational and educational schools, Southeast Community Housing, Little City Foundation, District 63 Education, Northwestern Settlement, Casa Central, New Trier Township, Evanston Rebuilding Exchange, Driscoll and Hyde Park Schools. Also notable, North Shore School District 36 donated all Crow Island school furniture to Chicago Catholic Schools through the eAngel network.
What is one thing that you wish everyone knew about eAngel Community?
eAngel would like to extend deep gratitude to all of our generous member donors who come to us seeking answers to the question “We would like to know who could use this?”. We are also especially grateful for our collaborating nonprofit members who are committed to picking up the in-kind resources that are gifted throughout the year.
All nonprofits and donors are invited to visit our website www.myeangel.org and join us in helping to build a community of sharing.
